About the Department:The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the NICU, is an intensive care unit created for premature and high-risk newborns who need specialized treatment. The NICU has equipment designed for infants and a hospital staff who have special training in newborn care. Babies who need to be in a NICU are often admitted within the first 24 hours after birth. At Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, our specialized staff is ready to take premature and sick babies into our current special care nursery (SCN).
